Ludhiana police have advised city residents against hiring modified limousine cars, saying that these vehicles had been modified in violation of the Central Motor Vehicle Act.<\/p>\n
On orders of the Punjab and Haryana high court, the district transport office and the traffic wing of Ludhiana police have been tracing such vehicles to cancel their registration.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, assistant commissioner of police (traffic) Dhruman Nimbale said these vehicles are likely to be impounded and, if such a vehicle is challaned during a marriage, celebration would likely be cut short.<\/p>\n
Given the opulence connected with them, modified limousine cars have become routine at marriages in the district. Several people in the district had jumped in to make a profit out of the business opportunity and modified vehicles to look like Limousine cars, violating the Central Motor Vehicle Act.<\/p>\n
People ended up paying Rs. 15,000 a day to hire such vehicles. ACP (traffic) Dhruman Nimbale appealed to the people to avoid hiring such vehicles. \u201cIt would only inconvenience them if such a vehicle is impounded during a marriage ceremony. We don’t want that do happen,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
