Normally travelers hire bikes from Chandigarh or Amritsar for leh trip. If you want to start from Srinagar then you can hire bike from Amritsar or Pathankot and if you want to start from manali then hire bikes from Chandigarh, Ambala or nearby.

Normally rent starts from Rs.1200 to Rs.2000 depend upon bike to bike. Like Avenger. Hero Honda ZMR will cost 1200-1400 and Bullet Standard 1400-1500 and Bullet classic 1500-1700 and  KTM Duke start from 1800-2000 depend upon total days. This rent is valid only for solo riders on per day basis.

Bike Rental companies normally take all rent advance apart from that refundable security Rs.10000 to Rs.15000 and pick drop charges.

Now most important thing you need to check the hired motorcycle for general checkup for a day and stretch the limit of engine to find any issue that rented bike might have.

Also do check bike papers, pollution certificate and valid insurance from start the trip. Make sure bike have proper toolkit.
